Services

To accomplish our mission at Dogwood Animal Hospital we will provide:

  • A highly trained and professional staff
  • State-of-the-art equipment and technology
  • A concern for our patient’s health and well being
  • A genuine concern for our client’s time

The quality of veterinary care your pet can receive from a visit to our hospital is not the only thing your pet’s health depends on. Giving our clients valuable knowledge that educates them on the best health care for their pets is a priority for us here at Dogwood Animal Hospital.

Our goal is to provide your pet with a lifetime of care and you with the peace of mind knowing your pets’ health and comfort is our top priority.

Anesthesia and Surgery

If your pet will be having surgery, it is important to allow time at check in to fill out a surgical consent form.

Your pet’s safety is our primary concern. Every surgical patient in our hospital must have a pre-surgical blood test. This wellness screening helps us determine if there are any underlying problems before sedation.

We use the safest form of gas anesthesia available. This anesthesia does not have to be metabolized by the body allowing your pet to awaken more quickly from the procedure being performed.

All surgical patients are closely monitored with advanced equipment including an EKG and pulse oximeter. The nurse will call you upon your pet’s recovery in the ICU and have complete home care instructions ready when you come to pick your pet up.

Our goal is to ensure not only a speedy, but a pain free recovery for our patients.

Dental Care

Dealing with your pet’s reddened gums or bad breath? Gingivitis or tarter could be the cause of these symptoms.  The buildup of tarter, and subsequent gum disease and tooth loss affects not only your pet’s immediate dental hygine, but also has a long term impact on the health of their kidneys, liver, heart and other major organ systems.  Dental disease shortens your pet’s life!

Pets need dental cleanings once a year just like humans.

Dental Home Care:

2 weeks after the dental procedure, you will want to start applying the OraVet Home Kit gel to your pet’s teeth. This is a once a week application of the OraVet gel that will stick to the concentrated application that we applied in our hospital during the dental procedure. If you are uncomfortable doing this we will be glad to demonstrate how it is to be done.

Check your pet’s teeth and call for an appointment if you see excessive tarter

Vaccinations

Yearly vaccinations are very important for your pet’s health!  Every year, your pets need a physical exam, heartworm test, fecal and vaccinations.
